In May 2008, our instructor Joan Bear was recognized by the local chapter of the Masons for her excellence in education.

Our instructor Bob Bear took 9th place in the 2009 North Carolina duck stamp contest.
October, 2008 Bob and Joan attended the Artist's Reception for the participants in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services federal duck stamp contest. They were the guests of Wildlife Forever. This was the first annual artist's reception sponsored by Wildlife Forever and the federal organization.
